Shoes for Benches | The Secret Life of Public Spaces

Inanimate objects have personalities. The gender and personality of the bench is expressed through custom-made shoes which are subtly placed on his or her feet.

Each bench is slightly different in structure and design, and those subtle differences are expressed through the tailoring and design of the shoes.

The way people interact with objects, especially furniture, is extremely intimate. Revealing the gender of the bench through footwear draws attention to the intimacy between people and objects, and intensifies the relationship between them.
